Kenya’s most “successful” Telco, Safaricom has fired more than 50 Area Sales Managers (ASMS) over a multimillion phones corruption scandal, our sources from the company have confirmed.
The Kenyan media popularly referred to as Githeri Media has been bribed to black-out this saga in order to save the image of Kenya’s richest and most corrupt company in Kenya. Safaricom has agents posing as journalists in all Kenyan media houses.
The Safaricom KPMG report that this site once covered extensively revealed how deep rot has robbed Safaricom and its hardworking shareholders Billions due to fraud and insider dealings that have always been covered up by the Kenyan media and Safaricom controlled Judicial system.
Area Sales Managers (ASMs) is quite a big role within Safaricom and each covers a region, like a whole county or so, & some bigger regions for places with a low population like Nothern Kenya.
You see nowadays when registering a new sim card/Mpesa in Mpesa shops, they take a picture of you, that’s a Huawei Y32 (y three two) provided to mpesa agents by Safaricom.
So, these phones were given to ASMs to distribute, and this was to be done to their region. ASMs are bosses to TDRs. TDRs are like the guys you find in Safaricom retail shops, but for the field, dealing with everything including Mpesa then reporting back to ASMs.
So it happens that some of the staff or all of them sold the Huawei phones instead of giving out to Mpesa Shops, revealing the rot and greed within Safaricom. To save face, Safcom started tracking the phones, calling people to find out where they got them.
Our sources have confirmed that the ASMs did not mastermind this fraud alone, it is a scam that was masterminded by the top management. To save face, On Friday, 29th June, all the ASMs were summoned to Safaricom headquarters and handed termination letters.
Note: 7 Million is per manager. Roughly speaking, more than Ksh. 350 million was looted.
