A bitter email exchange between fly 540 CEO Don Smith and workers has laid bare the struggles the embattled airline is going through, to say the least.
The editor of this site has confirmed that both fly 540 and sister company Sax have been laying off workers due to lack of business after customers avoided them after an accident that was blamed on flying defective planes and overworking their pilots.
Fly 540 CEO Don Smith runs his company with an iron fist and would rather risk lives and make money than comply with aviation safety guidelines.
According to the email we have seen, the workers have ganged up demanding to know why Don Smith has fired them without compensation after blaming them of not delivering.
”All of us are speaking in unison before you can blame some of us of team leaders for not performing or meeting our targets, show us any credible marketing your beloved marketing team have done to bring us sales, all other local airlines that you call pirates have all overtaken us due to intensive marketing” reads the email exchange from the staffer to Don Smith
“Let us agree to disagree to disagree that we are facing poor sales due to poor markting, as team leaders we can only manage to handle walk-in clients and those that call on their own will to have tickets booked, thus this leaves a gap which marketing should fill” further states the staffer in the email
” Ask yourself why staff are stealing from you…What about people like Moha security who gets paid for doing nothing? Your girls at the headquarters who think they have conquered the world ( we know what goes on, we are not stupid). A redundant IT department (We know who assists us) an always abusive Mr Karim ( Never listens to peoples opinions) at HR department that does not support employee’s welfare, how about your divide and rule style? some of your team leaders are even selfish, arrogant and are never team players. Honestly, we wouldn’t like to see fly 540 going down this way but one thing that is for sure that you will be your own company’s downfall and not us” Further reads the email
The email from the staffers calling then goes ahead to advise Don Smith, CEO 540 to read books on leadership….
” If you are a reader read articles from one of the best modern billionaires Richard Branson he might give you one or two ideas on how to take care of your employees if you indeed want your customers to be taken good care of”
A crew of Fly Sax aeroplane that crashed into the Aberdare Ranges on in June this year were unfamiliar with the Kitale-Jomo Kenyatta Airport flight path and had raised concerns about their suitability for the trip to some of their peers, investigations revealed. This, according to preliminary investigations from sources, might have contributed to the fatal crash.
The investigations also revealed that the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) a gadget crucial in search and rescue missions after accidents did not deploy, thus making the search and rescue missions take longer than
Exploitation and overworking of workers is also an issue that has reappeared whenever fly 540 or it’s sister company SAX issues are being raised.
According to sources that we spoke to, the airline is going down since no customer wants to use it because they fear that their safety may not be guaranteed.
