The National Youth Service (NYS) servicemen have not been paid their July and August salaries, cnyakundi.com has learnt.
In June, the management led by Director-General Ms Matilda Sakwa sent out a memo Commanders, COs, of all units that way forward will be to pay the allowances monthly and not like before where the allowances were let to accumulate then paid.
“As you are aware the Director-General has successfully completed payment of all the servicemen women monthly allowance including the arrears up to and including June 2020. Arising from the above the director-general has directed that going forward the allowance should be paid on a monthly basis without exception”, the memo exclusively seen by cnyakundi.com stated in part.
Recruits and servicemen were delighted but a month later, the reality is dawning on them that the ‘more things change, the more it remains the same’.
The issue of pay delays at NYS is rampant since Matilda Sakwa, who boasts of being a born-again Christian, took over.
