PART 11 OF 20 : THE OTHER SIDE OF VIMAL SHAH – BIDCO’S CEO THEY HAVENT TOLD YOU ABOUT

Vimal-Shah

As they say ,fish rots from the head . We have to discuss this individual at the heart of it all .

Vimal Shah, an Asian-Kenyan businessman, is the CEO of Bidco Oil Refineries, the largest manufacturer of edible oils in East and Central Africa, and manufactures detergents, soaps, baking powder and canola, as well as other edible oils. Bidco has a 49% share of the edible oils market in Kenya. In 1985, Vimal Shah, his father and younger brother started manufacturing soaps and in 2002, they acquired a significant portion of Unilever’s edible oil businesses. The three family members share ownership of the fortune. Bidco grosses over $500 million in annual revenues and its products are manufactured, sold and distributed in 14 countries across Africa. Always Bragging to be   one of the  investors in Tatu City, he was accused of Obstructing its Work . After doing my own Investigations, I realized that he has hardly invested any money and is a minority shareholder with no control.  A quick Google search Lead me to a Reputable Kenyan Newspaper where he was accused of obstructing Tatu City’s Work . See  the article  Article

Vimal has proven to be very irresponsible and letting the poor  farmers  of Uganda die instead of  pushing for the following

  •   Stop subsidizing the production of palm oil in developing countries, especially for biofuel production.
  •   Ensure access for communities to legal redress in countries where investment originates.
  •   Ensure that companies and investors provide information on the social and environmental impacts of their operations and investments, and that communities and NGOs have access to reliable information (for example, by including this information in mandatory company reporting requirements).

I wonder how vimal got on the guest list to meet president Obama. Is Obama really aware of what Vimal is doing to Uganda ?

As much as the government of Uganda should

  •   Ensure that it respects the provisions of the Uganda Land Act and not allow compulsory acquisition of land for foreign investments.
  •   Ensure communities have access to redress and fair judicial procedure.
  •   Monitor land projects for violations of law, conflicts with communities and human rights violations and take necessary action.

What happened to humanity ?
