Workers at Pestlab, a company that offers cleaning, fumigation and hygiene services to corporate companies, hotels, offices, institutions and residential clients, have raised concern over poor wages that do not match the current cost of living.
Writing to this blog on Tuesday, September 27, an employee disclosed that the company gives them as low as Kes.5,000 every month, without putting things like rising rent, and bus fare into consideration.
They are calling out to Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli to move in and rescue them from the heavy plight.
The company which has multiple branches across the country is headquartered at Applewood Opposite Adams Arcade along Ngong Road, Nairobi.
“Hi Nyakundi.
Post for me na ifikie Atwoli.
Kuna hii company inajiita Pestlab Cleaning Services, makao makuu iko Nairobi, inanyanyasa wafanyikazi sana.
Kazi ni mingi na kila branch wamepost only two staff members.
End month wanalipa 5k surely na kuna kulipa rent, kulipa fee, family inakutegeamea.
Now my question to Secretary General Atwoli, the lowest payment infaa kua ngapi? Juu kazi mingi mshara kidogo,” the source writes.
