The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) completed a key Footbridge on outering road at Mutindwa junction.
Mutindwa Junction which unites Buruburu and Umoja Estates is a key crossing point for a lot of people, accessing the Mutindwa market; including school-going children. The footbridge therefore is a key enabler for accessing either sides of the road.
However, the bridge remains incomplete and a danger to anyone using it.School kids are in danger of falling over; adults are in danger of losing their possession if it rolls and falls down to the road because there are no guard mesh.
The other thing is that, other footbridges especially those on Thika road have covers to protect people from the elements i.e. sun, rain etc.; Outer ring’s doesn’t have that.
Please do something, complete the Footbridge before something bad happens.
Accidents
After the completion of the Footbridge, some residents still prefer to dash across the busy highway.
Last week on Monday, a lady who was running to catch a train was crashed to death by a vehicle.
Police have also conducted intermittent manning and arrests in the area, but all they do is to take brines of Kshs. 1000 for those caught not using the footbridge.
We advice that residents use the Footbridge for their safety.A train ride of Kshs. 40 Bob is not worth losing one’s life for.
If you are late for work, please call your boss and inform them. Otherwise, it is not easy.
