Kanyamkago lies in Uriri Constituency in Migori County.
The constituency was established for the 1997 elections. Its mainly inhabited by two ethnic tribes namely Luo and the Abaluhya, who live harmoniously with each other.
Politicians are elected to office to serve the people. However, this is not usually the case as it always turns out that ‘power corrupts’.
Now, a story is being told.
A little bird is about to whipper a tale of betrayal in the picturesque greenery of Kanyamkago.
Sometimes, well-intentioned politicians find themselves staring at a crux. To do or not to do.
To join or not to join, the corrupt bandwagon is the question.
‘Kenya is a bandit economy’, says the Chief Justice, ’80 percent of politicians are corrupt and do not deserve to be in office,’ he warned.
In politics, it is a general rule, especially in Kenya that one has to grease the hand that helped them get elected.
Migori County is known for gold, sugarcane farming and other economic activities.
Sony Sugar Factory stands like a colossus on the greenery of neighboring Awendo. Serving close to 25,000 farmers in ten districts within the cane growing zones of Homabay, Gucha, Transmara, Kuria, Migori, Uriri, Rongo, Kisii South, Ndhiwa and Awendo.
The product, SonySugar, a unique granular sugar made from clean, fresh, mature cane, cut from the lush cane growing belt in Southwestern region of Kenya. The rich soils in this pleasantly green, scenic region contain nutrients that contribute to the distinctive sweetness of SonySugar.
One mans meat is another’s poison. This sweetness is being used to fund a sour campaign of sabotage.
Politicians will always be predatory. Using people like toilet paper. (oops)
As our little bird whispers, an hostile takeover is taking place.
It started by replacement of well-intentioned politicians or civil servants in the mold of Majority Leader and the Chief Whip at the County Assembly of Migori.
They were not ‘cooperating’.
The cartel were growing impatient and ‘it’s our time to eat’, was the rallying cry.
‘You can do me nothing’!, Onge! ‘I can do what I want’.
SonySugar is gonna be robbed of million of shillings. Ksh. 50 million to be precise.
A homage to the king accompanied by gifts must be delivered.
Dictatorships has its costs. When a leader rules a region for a long time, the people trust him (or maybe they just give up trying to remove him). Remember, if you can’t beat them, join them.
To maintain your political seat, you must pay a bribe to the ‘king’.
The king has eaten to his fill and now wants the money (Kshs. 50 million), to bribe each Member of County Assembly (MCA) Ksh 1 million each to impeach the speaker and the boss. (You know who the boss is).
The boss used to ‘pay his dues’ in the past but it seems he’s become uncooperative after a rough stint.
‘He must go, and we must eat,’ seems to be the rallying cry. No mercy or remembrance of past ‘good’ deeds.
If you know, you know!
