Three armed presidential security men were busted at the home of Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi after the police broke in to arrest the legislator over the crimes of hate speech and incitement.
The mission of the three officers attached to President Kenyatta’s security unit was not clear.
Uasin Gishu Police Commander Gishu Johnstone Ipara who led the operation into the vocal lawmaker’s home, confirmed the presence of the president’s security team.
Police broke in after hours of waiting, conducted a thorough search but did not find Hon. Sudi.
Ipara said there was a deadlock when the occupants of the residence refused to open the gate forcing the DCI officers to break in through the fence of the compound.
Ipara also confirmed that shots were fired from the house after they broke into the compound.
The three officers who were confirmed to be attached to the presidential escort unit include Simon Siengo who had a Ceska pistol with 2 magazines of 15 rounds of ammunition, Issack Dida, who had a Jericho with a magazine of 15 rounds of ammunition and C.I Ekiru who is suspected to have escaped with Sudi.
Ipara confirmed that civilians were also arrested including Victor K. Kibitok, Stephen Chege, James Kemboi Kemei, Jonathan Maritim Kosgei, and David Birich Kipyego who were taken in for questioning.
