Sports Kenya corporation is the latest state agency under the Ministry of Sports to be targeted by strong claims of gross malpractice under the watch of Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed.
This comes just hours after our recent two-part feature that exposed an ongoing looting racket at the Sports Arts and Social Development Fund (SASDF) where greedy senior officials within the ministry have converted the fund into a cash cow at the expense of workers and contractors.

It has now emerged that an in-house auditor has sought answers as to how a senior official purportedly removed from duty managed to execute official roles for two consecutive months.
In an internal memo addressed to the Assistant Director, Human Resource and Administration at Sports Kenya, the Chief Internal Auditor CPA Gilton M Mwanzighe argues that acquired records indicate that one Mr Pius Metto of PF NO 200614 acted in his capacity as Director-General between January and February 2022 despite the expunction of his name from both monthly payrolls.
Evidence tabled shows that he issued directions, made payment approvals among other duties.
“The purpose of this memo, therefore, is to seek more information that the Internal Auditor may be oblivion of, your direction and intervention relating to this matter as the custodian of Sports Kenya human resource personnel data and information that necessitate this action,” reads part of the document dated 14th March 2022.
Rot at the Ministry of Sports
From recent assertions presented to cnyakundi.com, it is quite apparent that the rot at the Ministry of Sports is deeply entrenched to the extent that some junior staff have gained access to the gravy train.
On Thursday, 7th April 2022, an insider within the state department specifically singled out one such lucky employee by the name of Dokatu Wako who is suspected to be one of the beneficiaries of rampant theft at SASDF.
The lady who is likely to be in her late 30s is known to openly enjoy favours from Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed thanks to their close relationship that began immediately after Amina took over.
Acting as Amina’s proxy, her duties are said to range from collecting bribes from contractors to threatening those that fail to do as per agreed terms.

Sports Kenya (SK) is a state corporation established by the Sports Act, of 2013 and given the mandate to carry out functions formally performed by the Sports Stadia Management Board and the Department of Sports.
The key aim of its formation was to promote coordination and implement national and international sports programmes, establish, manage, develop and maintain the sports facilities including convention centres, indoor sporting and recreational facilities in the country and participate in the promotion of sports tourism among others.
But from the stories going around, it is quite clear that the contrary is happening at Sports Kenya.
If this is the same body expected to develop modern sports facilities then we are certainly doomed as a country.
