Equity Bank of Kenya is accused by a customer Garang Mzalendo, of not respecting his rights of wearing a turban for a passport photo.
He had gone to Equity bank Gikomba Branch, to open an account when he was told to remove the turban he was wearing so as to allow the bank clerk take his passport photo. He refused citing personal reasons.
Garang claims that his National ID card and Passport have his photo wearing a turban, yet Equity bank was acting with corporate impunity.
Equity Bank Gikomba Branch has refused to open an account for me just because I refused to remove my rasta hat, I went ahead and sent them my passport size photo on email with my turban on they still refused demanding that I must remove it and I still refused.

The rogue bank has been under the spotlight over fraud.
Going by the numerous reports we receive and those in the media, employees at Equity bank are having a field day stealing from customer accounts with reckless abandon.
Not a month passes without hearing a customer complaining that their money has been deducted erroneously or disappeared altogether from their account at Equity Bank.
The bank claims a moral high-ground for nothing. It is also ironical since this is the bank whose boss James Mwangi, was once accused of attempting to rape current Nairobi Women Representative in the National Assembly Esther Passaris.
Equity has many insider fraud cases. The bank laundered National Youth Service (NYS) monies and was mentioned in South-Sudan Scandals. This is the same bank where war lords who sit pretty in Nairobi use to launder illicit funds and continue to use those monies to fuel instability in the young nation.
Former Youth and Gender Principal Secretary (PS) Lilian Omollo who is under investigation for stealing NYS money, wad found to have 6 accounts at equity with a total of Kshs. 33 million.
Even with the salary that she earns as a PS, she can never have such an amount in the short time she has worked.
When asked the source of money she said she got it from selling Cucumbers.
Labda ya kujitomba nayo.
Despite all these ills, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) under George Kinoti has refused to investigate because they are protecting the bank.
These wankers think we can be taken for a ride for too long. THINGS MUST CHANGE!!
