A week after residents of Nyayo Embakasi took to the streets over prolonged water shortage, the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Ltd (NCWSC) has today responded by sending a troop of their rogue agents to the Estate.
In a show of power and might, the group was accompanied by an army of gun brandishing police officers who offered them tight security as they confidently harassed homeowners by threatening to cut off their water supply and sewage systems as a punishment for their spirited protest.
“Hi Cyprian, this is happening now at Nyayo Estate Embakasi.
Nairobi water has gone with police to read meters.
Threatening to cut off the water supply and sewage systems to the residents.
Last week we had a demo about the lack of water.
And told them we would not allow them to enter our estate without restoring our water supply to acceptable levels
This is their answer.
To storm in during a holiday brandishing their guns.
The irony is even in that video there is a mkokoteni bringing water.
And there they are entering to harass residents.
They have told us they can cut off our supply and sewage for a week,” a resident wrote in frustration.

During last week’s demo, Nyayo Embakasi Residents Association (NERA) chairman Teddy Biero told journalists that the water problem has been persistent for the last five years.
Obiero also heaped blame on the National Social Security Fund for failing to maintain the three boreholes that should be supplying them with three million litres of water a week.
He argued that the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has failed to supply them with the commodity even after being engaged on a daily basis and they should, therefore, not be forced to pay any outstanding bills.
