Sad story! As Received:
Imagine boarding a matatu in the early morning to report to work. Imagine that you have to alight at the furthest bus stage and you are left as the only passenger in the vehicle.
Now imagine that the matatu decides to take a diversion to some dark alley and you obviously raise alarm.
The driver refuses to stop and instead makes the music louder to drown your “noise”.The tout struggles to lock you in and tells you to keep quiet.
What would you do? What do we call that?
A bad dream, a movie, a rape attempt or perhaps a hijacking incident.
Well, this was the reality for Mercy Mwangi on Friday 24th May 2019 when she boarded a Zuri Genesis heading to Kahawa West.
The PSV vehicle KCB 471R (pictured) diverted towards Kiambu and the two men could not let the young lady alight for reasons known exclusively to them.
But Mercy sensing danger, decided to jump out of the moving vehicle injuring her back and head; she also broke her leg in the process.
Fortunately, Boda boda (motorcycle) operators around noticed the scuffle, blocked the mini-bus from escaping and called the Kiamumbi Police.
Today as we speak, the matatu is freely operating and earning on the road; the driver and tout are out on a 30k bond charged for ” negligence ” mean while Mercy is unable to work and facing hospital bills that rise daily.
IGP Hillary Mutyambai, DCI George Kinoti and DPP Haji, this is miscarriage of justice and abuse to our intelligence.
This rogue crew need to be arrested and charged afresh.
