Notorious Telco, Safaricom has sent lobbyists to Tanzania to help Sylvia Mulinge get a work permit, four months after she applied for one, our sources within the Telco have tipped us.
Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore had bragged when Sylvia Mulinge got appointed as Vodacom Tanzania managing director effective June this year.
Sylvia Mulinge’s name was not among the names of the more than 400 people that had applied for work permits, a story we first broke on this website before it hit the corrupt mainstream media headlines.
The lobbyists, consisting of the ministry of foreign affairs officials and others have already touched ground in Tanzania, trying to save Safaricom and Kenyan government the shame of one of their own being denied a work permit.
Mulinge’s matter has become complicated because of her integrity and dark past. She was named in the Safaricom KPMG exposes as one of the managers that corruptly engaged in tender scandals.
Within Safaricom, she is loathed and hated especially by top management fellas because she used to control CEO Bob Collymore. The effeminized CEO used to act under Mulinge’s commands.
Sylvia Mulinge also murdered a minor on the southern by-pass due to careless, drunk driving. She managed to buy the system and escape punishment. We will start lobbying for this matter to be reactivated.
These are some of the issues that have complicated matters.
While addressing work permits issue, yesterday, The Tanzania Deputy Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Employment, Youth and the Disabled), Mr Antony Mavunde said the government is ” still working on Sylvia Mulinge’s matter’
It is not clear whose resources Safaricom has dispensed to lobby for Mulinge’s acceptance because, in Africa, money has to change hands in such lobbying but anyways, to what gain?
