As the world marked International Women’s Day (IWD), Kenya was not left behind as a long list of Chief Executive Officers, Managing Directors and Senior officers in major companies took turns in celebrating this year’s event themed “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”.
But even as leaders took to social media to share their messages on this special day for women, it was one particular post by a leading corporate official, Mr Kevin Sang, that captured the attention of netizens.
This is after the Kenya Power Communications Chief chose a rather unconventional method to express his support for the female gender at the electricity supplying firm.
Employees in his department were met with utter shock on Tuesday, 8th March 2022 after their boss turned up to work clad in a white pair of high-heeled shoes.
Mr Sang then requested one of his juniors to take a quick snap of his uncustomary mode of dressing and proceeded to publish it on his LinkedIn account.
“She believed she could and she did.
Sure, you can do all things through Christ.
To all ladies, Happy International Women’s Day.
Keep doing it,” he captioned the strange post.
The IWD, celebrated on March 8, annually, is a day set to acknowledge the political, economical, social and cultural achievements across the world and to call to action on Women’s equality.
As the world unites to celebrate women, Kenyans on Twitter have wished women in the country a happy International Women’s Day, using the hashtag #BreakTheBias
By the publishing of this post, Mr Sang was yet to issue any comment regarding the context of his antics which most people, especially in his native Kalenjin community, consider as grossly unAfrican.
On behalf of this site’s Chief Editor the entire news desk team, we wish all our wonderful and loyal female readers a very Happy, albeit belated, International Women’s Day.
