On Tuesday morning, Kenyan artist Kaka Sungura was on the receiving end of criticism from Kenyans on Twitter after his attempted publicity stunt embarrassingly flopped.
King Kaka had on Monday morning tweeted saying he had been directed to pull down his latest music video within two hours because it had inappropriate scenes. According to him, the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) headed by the annoying Ezekiel Mutua had asked him to take down the video.
Kenyan musicians have recently been pulling a lot of stunts online for clout and relevance, the most common being Otile Brown and Vera Sidika’s self made controversies on Instagram.
Perhaps learning from his counterparts, Kaka Sungura attempted driving the public towards his latest music video on YouTube but unfortunately for him, Kenyans on Twitter weren’t boarding that train.
In fact, some offered to school Kaka Sungura on matters content censorship. To prove his claims wrong, one Twitter user went on to clearly state that KFCB had no power whatsoever to pull down a YouTube video since their duty is to regulate content that makes it to TV, not online.
LMFAO why you lying? KFCB have no rights to YouTube videos. And the YouTube wouldn't have put it down because it does not violate any community regulations. Sema tu umeanza publicity stunts kama Otieno https://t.co/uTfSY0uvmJ

Others went on to challenge him to produce official communication from KFCB to substantiate his claims.
Wapi official communication? Tunajua mnapenda kucreate controversy ndio watu waende kucheck hizo video. Shida ya hii art, mnakimbilia views https://t.co/SuNkb3jyh6

King Kaka will have to find new ways of driving traffic towards his content because Kenyans are tired of cheap stunts from these mediocre artists. We deserve better!
