Pay-TV and Satelite-Service Provider Supersport has been accused by an anti-graft watchdog of corruption, in the awarding of a tender to cover production costs during the recent tour of Kenya by Pope Francis.
The write up going under the banner of Kenya Today sensationally claimed that Supersport were overpaid by $300,000.00 in inflated costs, to cater for kickbacks to StateHouse and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s spokesman Manoah Esipisu. The heist was said to have been executed together with Supersport officials Auka Geceo and Andreh Venter.
Esipisu was also alleged to have executed grand-heists using his position, accused of embezzling Kshs. 120 million wired through the Vision 2030 Secretariat for the purpose of facilitating the Global Entrepreneurship Summit that was attended by US President Barack Obama.
Manoah Esipisu is also said to have solicited Kshs. 30 Million from corporates whose CEO’s always seek political patronage through Statehouse in a bid to mask corporate-theft like KCB, Safaricom, National Bank and Cooperative Bank, money that has yet to be accounted for.
It also emerged that Manoah Esipisu is being investigated by the office of the Auditor General over the loss of Kshs. 19 million wired to KICC to set-up a non-existent media center. Charles Gacheru has also been fingered as a conduit.
Over 12.5 Million meant for “PR” to counter the negative narrative being propagated during the teachers strike is also said to be missing, with Esipisu being the primary suspect, together with another 6.3 Million allocated during the Ebola emergency, bringing the total amount of money Esipisu embezzled to Kshs. 242 Million.
The exposè went ahead to claim that Bruce Odhiambo used the illicitly-acquired funds from the Youth Fund heist, to purchase Casablanca Club in Mombasa. Over Kshs. 180 million was paid to a fictitious company Quarandum Limited for services that were never delivered.
Fred Simiyu the former CEO of Kenyatta International Conference Center was also fingered as having awarded the girlfriend of Hon. Moses Wetangula a contract to renovate KICC ahead of the WTO Ministerial Conference held last December. Over Kshs. 200 million was spent to renovate the Parking Lot and Gate, which are already falling apart barely 4 months after. KICC is said to owe suppliers over Kshs. 620 million.
Charles Gacheru of IMG PR who is also a KICC board member is accused of using taxpayers money to joyride first-class to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. Gacheru was also said to have been the conduit for money paid as bribes to Manoah Esipisu, together with Brown Kutswa of the Devolution Ministry, to facilitate a press-conference in defense of Anne Waiguru. IMG PR was the firm handling PR matters pertaining to the Devolution Ministry.
Dennis Chebitwey Director of Public Communications has also been linked to the loss of Kshs. 143 Million.
