A financial lending company; Inventure mobile popularly known as TALA has come under spotlight for abandoning its employees to rot in a Tanzanian cell.
Brian Lusiola, an IT specialist and a fulltime employee at TALA was arrested by Tanzanian authorities on the accusation that he in a company of another colleague aided an operation to defraud Tanzanian government millions of shillings.
Brian who was in charge of outbound calls and collection system for debt collection was arrested on 11th Mar 2019 at Tala offices in Tanzania.
According to local media report, Brian was charged with six counts of offense which includes but not limited to sabotaging the Tanzanian economy that led to the Government losing approximately sixty-four million Tanzanian shillings.
In a charge sheet presented before justice Jackline Nyantori, the suspects were further accused of illegally importing, setting up and using uncertified telecommunication device named ProLiant without valid operating license as per the Tanzania’s telecommunication regulations.
According to insiders who spoke to CNYAKUNDI.COM on condition of anonymity reveled that the two were operating under strict instructions from Tala’s top management. The allegation further indicates that the company has chosen to ignore the plea from friends and family of the suspects to assist in securing their release.
The company is said to have had prior knowledge of the duo’s activity in Tanzania, hence raising questions as to whether employers are liable to actions committed by their employees in line of duty.
