Struggling Telecommunications firm Telkom Kenya has made changes to its subscription services after exposés by this site.
Though clients are still subscribed without their knowledge and their money stolen, the Telco now includes an unsubscription instruction in the texts sent.
“Thanks for subscribing to Sportsfit service. You will be charged at 10 KES, to unsubscribe send UNSUB SF to 70080 for free”, the text now says.
In mid-July, cnyakundi.com documented how Telkom Kenya stole airtime from clueless and unsuspecting clients.
“Telkom subscribes you to this service, but there’s no way to unsubscribe unless one calls the customer care or writes to them’, said a client.
To make matters worse, one has to wait hours to be unsubscribed.
We still call upon the Communication Authority of Kenya to punish the wayward Telco for forcefully subscribing its clients to premium services where the lose airtime.
