Hi Nyakundi, kindly expose Telkom Kenya.
They recently they had a retrenchment exercise where all staff both on contract and permanent were given a one month notice for the retrenchment/redundancy exercise and all affected members were to be given redundancy letters by 3rd December.
So the D-day finally came and we were summoned; the employees on contract have been renewing their contract every 3 months and there are some who have worked for 3-5 years on contract, me being one of them.
The last contract we signed was at the end of this month of December. However, as a result of the redundancy exercise, the HR delivered the news that I was on the list of those going home. However, the redundancy package indicated we were going to be paid some dues.
A day later, Telkom has now recalled the letters claiming contract staff we are not to be given the redundancy package it was just an error so we should continue working till the end of our contract this month then there will allegedly be interviews for the recruitment of new staff but under an agency, so we shall go for the interviews and whoever makes it will be employed. Clearly, hawa watu are trying to avoid paying us. Expose them!
