Nation Media Group has recently come under scrutiny for mass retrenchment after divesting from non-performing assets which the management claim weren’t adding value to shareholders. The truth is that Nation Media Group has become a Government-mouthpiece by sacking all the independent-minded journalists and only leaving the Daystar-calibre inferior minds, conditioned by education mixed with religion to produce mediocrity.

Since Joe Muganda joined NMG, his primary role has been to bootlick Government in a bid to secure advertising jobs for his struggling publications, since clearly nobody is buying newspapers a lot, save for those keen on obituaries.
The mediocrity at Nation Media Group is unrivalled and even a report by the Communication Authority of Kenya CAK (which they refused to share with us) recently revealed that amongst the mainstream media operatives, NMG is performing worst on the field of local content, probably because Linus Kaikai prefers to play golf at Muthaiga Club and eat Thai cuisine at The Stanley, instead of being in the office to meet people who can generate content.

How does a channel like NMG employ Linus Kaikai, who background is being just another mediocre journalist like Emmanuel Juma or the other stalwarts who have choked our media space with the mediocrity that can be equated with kindergarten content? Shouldn’t they get bona-fide content scouts, preferably not Kenyan or anyone who has been through the Kenyan 8-4-4 system?
Moving on, we have come in contact with information that Nation Media Group has enlisted the services of SeriGraphics Limited, to recover a debt of Kshs. 123 Million from Government Advertising Agency (GAA), for advertising services rendered to Government during the ended financial year.
What a calamity that even after sacking Dennis Galava, legendary cartoonist Gaddo and others at the behest of Statehouse, one would expect that their payment which is a subliminal-bribe would be prioritized. But surprise surprise, NMG are stuck in a situation where they are chasing bad debts.
From 2015, Government opted to centralize advertising procurement in ministries, state-corporations and parastatals, which is how GAA came into existence. It was seen as the best way to intimidate media houses into toes the line since a simple threat from GAA would be dire as their account is normally wide-ranging.
But as fate would have it, NMG have conceded their market-leader position, compromised the product and discarded customer loyalty, by option to kiss Government’s ass. The consequence of relying on one party can be dire as now they got into a comfort-zone, opting to deliver mediocrity instead of quality since they were always assured of adverts.
Its the same way with corporates. Nation Media Group would not risk rub big corporates especially one notorious one, for the risk of losing advertising revenue. The reason why bloggers have become influential is because news sources have lost trust and confidence in big media houses.
Look at for instance an idiot like Kwendo Opanga. He recently wrote a soft article, politely-requesting the Transport CS James Macharia to ensure no extra spending on the SGR. That article was meant to pacify and hoodwink Kenyans into first accepting the misguided SGR project, ignoring the face that it was a misguided idea in the first place that was inflated and will serve no use.
Kwendo Opanga doesn’t know that we are alive to his subliminal-messaging antics and that he is on the payroll of that same CS so as to dispatch and sanitise corruption. Which is the reason why us as bloggers are happy to oversee the demise of NMG, and will be ready to fill the void once their stupidity kicks them out of business. It’s simple natural selection.
Hereby we attach the letter where a company is demanding NMG’s money from Government Advertising Agency (GAA). What a shame. After bending over backwards to work with Government, they are now sending debt-collectors for their money? Pathetic! Joe Muganda, you’re such an idiot. If there were 10 of you in Kenya, this country would be finished.
