Philip Ogola alias Digital Humanitarian has today shared the shocking news about the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service (KNBTS) Centre.
In a Twitter thread, Philip shard how the KNBTS has fallen into disrepute and dilapidated infrastructure.
The blood banks are empty and the centre also lacks drivers, working vehicles, gloves for the medical personnel, blood bags, strapping materials, distilled water to test and screen blood and blood products. The cold room that holds blood is also broken down.
Ogola says that blood donors have been turning up at the KNBTS but they are being turned away due to lack of the necessary equipment and personnel to handle the same.
‘It’s really SAD blood donors turning up at KNBTS centres to donate blood are being turned away as there are no gloves, no blood bags , no strapping bags or refreshments needed to conduct bleeding’, Ogola wrote on his Twitter handle
Cnyakundi.com occasionally gets the blood appeal messages that we share our various platforms to help those in need to find blood donors.
Philip Ogola shared the thread over an hour ago but the Ministry of Health (MoH) has not responded to the claims.
Maybe, BBI is more important than the lives of Kenyans.
