President Uhuru Kenyatta reached ODM leader Raila Odinga to congratulate him over his party’s win of Kibra by-election.
Surprisingly we could not establish if the President also called his deputy William Ruto.
It has emerged Uhuru secretly was for ODM candidate in the spirit of the handshake but his deputy wanted to use the by-election to square it out with Raila and forced Jubilee to field a candidate.
It’s imperative to note, no senior Jubilee official campaigned for the candidate MacDonald Mariga including party secretary general Raphael Tuju.
Weekly Citizen has established Kirinyanga Governor Ann Mumbi Waiguru had to ask for permission from State House to attend ODM rally skipping that one of Ruto.
ODM candidate Bernard Imran Okoth won the Kibra by-election after garnering 24,636 votes with Jubilee Party’s Mariga coming second with 11,230.
At third position was Eliud Owalo (ANC) with 5,275 votes followed by Khamisi Butichi (Ford Kenya) in fourth place with 260 votes.
Congratulations to Kibra MP Elect @ImranOkoth & Kibra people for voting in a true son of Kibra. Thank you for honouring the handshake. Walikucheka lakini #kwagroundvitunidifferent. Long live the #Handshake ; forward, onward to #BBI#volumeikosawa?#KibraDecides
