Safaricom has always been a broken firm.
However, this was not always apparent as in the time of Peter Ndegwa.
Peter Ndegwa is now being accused of entrenching ethnicity, theft bigotry, malevolence, debauchery and laziness.
This, if not checked will wipe out the great (thief) Safaricom
Who is this guy really?
Hi Cyprian,
I wanted to bring to your attention the issue of Safaricom staff being overworked and unmotivated ever since Peter Ndegwa took over as CEO.
The burnout and lack of motivation has made most quit.
The most recent is I think Janet, the director of customer operations.
The working environment is no longer friendly and Me Ndegwa is majorly making profits through cost-cutting.
There is a way @bobcollymore really humanized Safaricom. Right now around Christmas, he would be doing something that would make people happy – I remember when he was hanging out in matatus and paying fares. He was a special one – so funny & people-focused. I miss his spirit.

If you compare the things staff used to enjoy when Bob Collymore was alive, almost all have been reduced/changed /stopped. For example, nowadays, team building is done online.
Nonetheless, that is not even the problem; problem is, something that was being done for 2 days, is now only done for a mere 1 hour.
Also, the tea that the call centre were being given, has been cut down.
Bob tried to balance ethnicity when doing appointments. Right now, all appointments are done, the majority of the appointed guys are from central Kenya, Peter Ndegwa’s ethnic origin. I dare you to draw the management tree during Bob’s tenure and now.
Issues of staff quitting and no hiring done is very much affecting performance.
When an issue is raised with management they say to use available resources. So you find the customer care guys handling more than 3 skillsets at the same time which is a lot of work.
Furthermore, the recently hired guys to work in Ethiopia came back due to the “security issue”. But can you believe now they are telling the staff that they cannot go back with their families despite it being confirmed the country is safe? They are still using the “security issue” as an excuse.
Remember there are those guys whose partners had quit their jobs to go support their Safaricom appointed partners and now, they are being told they cannot go with families yet they had signed a contract for a family relocation.
The bottom line being they realised they will cut on cost if a staff member goes without his/her family. This has caused a lot of pain, and it is very wrong.
Some of the appointed guys have young families, so imagine expecting them to work and perform without seeing their families for months.
Finally, if indeed there is a security issue why is Safaricom sending staff there?
You do your research you will uncover so many things.
