Motorists driving along Eldama Ravine were treated to a free adrenaline-packed motorsport show on Friday night when a seemingly drunk Range Rover driver decided to go on a high-speed midnight drift around the town’s roundabout.
In the short video clip widely shared on social media, the heavy English machine struggled to maintain stability across the circuit and twice risked toppling over.
But this did not seem to deter the yet to be identified driver who fearlessly revved on for another dangerous lap as other bewildered road users watched on.
What is drifting?
Drifting is a driving manoeuvre where the driver of a car intentionally steers too much, causing the car’s rear tires, or sometimes all the tires, to lose their grip on the road.
Like in the video above, drifting in motorsports causes a tire, or all the tires, to lose traction but still allows the driver to maintain control of the car while entering and exiting a turn.
