Former Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe is in critical condition at the hospital after being shot by a gunman.
A video shows Abe being shot in the back, on the chest region, before falling down.
His aides managed to restrain the lone gunman who used a shotgun.
Independent press reports that Abe has suffered a heart attack and is unconscious at the hospital.
In the below video, NHK, , Japan’s public broadcaster, shared a video of the moment that Abe was shot from behind.
The video does not show the shooter, just the puff of smoke.
Abe was shot twice.
Hours later, authorities in Japan confirmed that Shinzo Abe, 67, died, while receiving treatment.
Tetsuya Yamagami, 41, is in police custody for the murder.
