On Friday it was officially declared that Babu Owino was an unwanted guest in Uganda. In an official letter from Ugandan minister of internal affairs Haji Abubakar to Kenya’s CS foreign Affairs Monica Juma, Babu is accused of undermining President Yoweri Museveni’s government.
Part of the letter reads that, “Our attention is drawn to the joint subversive activities of Robert Kyaglanyi popularly known as Bobi wine and his Kenyan counterpart Babu to undermine the legitimately elected government of the Republic of Uganda.”
Mr Abubakar also made it clear that anyone found aiding or abetting the violation of the directive would be in contravention of a legal order and would face prosecution.
During Bobi Wine’s visit in Kenya, Babu Owino publicly criticized Museveni and told him his time in leadership was over and it was time to let young people take up the top seat in Uganda. He even threatened to have Kenyan MPs go to Uganda and stage demonstrations against Museveni. Babu also told the Ugandan president to stop disturbing Bobi Wine since he only had 5-10 years left to live, something that Museveni didn’t take very lightly.
The two legislators also held a rally at Jacaranda Grounds and launched Youth for Africa movement whose key objective they said was fighting for millions of oppressed people in Africa.
