Former anti-graft Czar and current CEO of Inuka Kenya Ltd Mr. John Githongo painted a grim picture of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s war on corruption.
Speaking on KTN, yesterday, Mr. Githongo said that the Jubilee regime doesn’t have one Goldenberg or one Anglo-leasing; but multiple such scandals running concurrently.
He lamented that the Kenyatta regime doesn’t have any strategy for fighting corruption.
Though Uhuru often talks tough on corruption, he lacks the will to tackle it.
‘Despite (Uhuru) being quite emotional and speaking very strongly about corruption, he has been singularly unsuccessful in dealing with it,’ Githongo said
One of the impacts of corruption on public administration is the loss of public trust. Public trust is key because it is one of the things that gives a regime the mandate to communicate and execute ideas.
Githongo observed that public trust has been lost in Kenya, pointing to the turn out and protests around the recently held Beyond Zero half Marathon.
Analysts put the figure lost through corruption since 2013 at Kshs. 6.6 trillion.
