On Thursday, 2nd April, 2019, a blog reported that Huduma Namba System had been hacked and some records deleted.
The blog claimed that a University of Nairobi IT student Enock Ovitah alias Jakuo had been arrested for violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
It also went to tate that Enock had turned off automatic backing from IDEMIA servers.
IDEMIA is the company that collects the data on behalf of GoK.
Most Kenyans who hate this government of Kenya (GoK) forced registration, immediately celebrated.
However, they didn’t know that it was fake news.
‘Kindly treat fake news circulating claiming Huduma Namba has been hacked with the contempt they deserve’, a tweet from the Interior Ministry handle said.
The Interior Ministry post also boasted that over 23.5 million people have already registered.
This devided a section of netizens.
Some called out the GoK for outright lies.
