For three weeks last month, residents of Ongata Rongai and surrounding areas were hit by a major water crisis that pushed up the cost of the commodity.
Water vendors were selling water for between Kshs. 80 and Kshs. 150 for a 30-litre jerry can.
Water had not been available for months.
Last week, some officials stated that the situation had been resolved but some residents say that they still don’t water.
There were claims Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) had cut electricity to the pumps following high bills arrears the county has.
Today we received the below information; resident still decry lack of the essential commodity.
Good afternoon brother,
OLOOLAISER WATER AND SEWERAGE COMPANY is sinking due to management Rot.
There is no water in the whole of Ongata Rongai.
They are claiming that they have electricity bills which means they have no means to pump water.
Their customer care is also wanting as they don’t pick calls.
We as residents we are suspecting that some workers are colluding with water boozers and mkokoteni owners to distribute water to estates.
There have been rumors that the staff are being paid late salaries; seems there’s also a go slow.
What is going on?
Please expose this.
