In June 2019, Police boss Hilary Mutyambai ordered the removal of traffic checkpoints and roadblocks on major highways in the country.
However, it seems like things are back to normal as the police commanders use the provision that ‘the checkpoints and roadblocks on highways shall now only be mounted with the express authority of Regional/Formation Commanders and must be justified and rationalised’.
Most of the complaints we receive on the roadblocks shows that it seems nothing changed.
Here are some of the complaints the chief editor of this site has received.

Hey Mr President,
Am a resident of Kikuyu, along Waiyaki way; and something has been really bothering me. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) issued an order a while back about these road blocks when and if they should be mounted.
There is this roadblock at Kabete that has been omnipresent.
I agree security is Paramount, but what warrants 15 uniformed traffic cops to idle there just to check our Driving Licenses (DL) ?
I counted 15 big-bellied cops today.
Please address this.

Am bringing to your attention to what is going on in Kiptagich – Olenguruone – Keringet road.
We have no problem with the roadblock but all we want to know is if it’s Gazetted.
Dr. Fred Matiang’i, kindly come to our rescue.
Olenguruone is in Kuresoi south, Nakuru county.
