On 16/11/2019, CPL Mureithi drew his gun, cocked it and fired at a man he had arrested earlier on.
The man was leaving Bomet Police Station and it was on Saturday at around 2230hrs or 2300hrs thereabout. The man had been arrested aboard bodaboda in normal and routine police duties purpolarly know as “Msako”.
He was slapped by CPL Mureithi upon arrival at the police yet he was calm and composed. After finding no fault in him, he was released but CPL Mureithi who had arrested him and slapped him, followed from behind and shortly there was a gunshot followed by screaming.
The police did not respond but the guy was lucky the bullet missed him.
He then grabbed the officer and pushed him until he was close to the police station building where another police officer in uniform called Otieno disarmed CPL Mureithi and confirmed that he had used one bullet.
The incident was not booked in the OB – Occurence Book.
The Officer Commanding the Station OCS James Mutisya was made aware that night but he took no actions.
The County Commander is aware but no actions taken against the rogue officer.
He is still working in Bomet police station and normally see him boasting that he is untouchable.
The DCI and IPOA must investigate and rid the Bomet of this killer Police officer.
