As the Jubilee Government grapples with the frequent terror attacks against innocent Kenyans, it has emerged that police manning Kenya-Somali border are paid peanuts and treated like stray dogs.
Some of the police officers who spoke to KTN in an expose dubbed, Terror Crossing, claimed that they are paid a mere Ksh 600 as hard-ship allowance and their salaries are delayed for months.
They also lack proper equipment to fight terrorists who use lethal weapons.
“We live in fear, Al-Shabaab terrorists use lethal weapons and that’s why they over-power us at most times. Truth be told, Kenya-Somali border is unmanned at Night. No police officer is ready to risk his life,” a police officer told KTN.
A spot-check by KTN revealed that the Kenya-Somali border is separated by a broken gate and Somali citizens enter into our country at will. Police manning the border survive on bribes and Al Shabaab members are bribing them to sneak in lethal weapons used for terror attacks.
With corruption and security lapses at the Kenya-Somali border, Kenyans should be prepared for the worst.
