Here is new evidence of discrimination on accounts of different nationalities. It appears there’s no one these people can’t discriminate against.
Do they have protection at State House?
Hi Nyakundi,
1: As a South East Asian, I’ve realized that when I first joined the school, I was treated really well. You could say I was privileged. But as more and more people found out about my nationality, I was look down upon. The Turkish teachers talked about me (I understood a bit of Turkish back then) and insulted me. Some of the Turkish students even tried to bully me when I spoke in my mother tongue.
2: My friend (Kenyan) was constantly sent by teachers to do errands (getting them something from the kitchen, informing other teachers about something, etc.) but whenever she approached any of the teachers with questions, she was shunned. In the classroom, if she had something to say, she would be ignored and the Turkish kids would be listened to instead. The Turkish teachers also spoke with the Turkish student in their mother tongue constantly, even though there was a rule prohibiting it at the time.
3: One of the teachers let slip a small piece of information once: he was paid less than his Turkish peers, and he taught one of the sciences to the higher-grade students at the time. It was no wonder he left the school. We had one Kenyan deputy principal, but she barely held any power compared to the Turkish principal, and it was pretty much just a disguise of “diversity” when in reality racism runs deep in the school
