A 29-year-old woman is facing charges of stealing Sh 60,000 from her lover after allegedly ransacking his pockets while he was in shower at their rented residence in Nyamakima, Nairobi.
Maureen Gakii Kariuki was accused of stealing the cash from Leonard Mumbo Mnzungu on December 12, 2019.
The two were in a relationship and have been cohabiting for the last two years.
On the said date, Mnzungu had returned home with Sh 75,000 and left the cash in his trouser pockets as he went to take a shower, only to find both Kamau and his cash missing.
He tried to call her but her phone had been switched off.
The suspect was arrested on January 4, 2020.
She initially admitted to stealing the cash during interrogation by officers at Kamikunji police station but later disowned her confessions.
She denied the charges before Makadara Law Courts Chief Magistrate Heston Nyaga and was freed on a cash bail of Sh 20,000.
Hearing of the case starts on April 30, 2020.
