Employees at the Kisumu Hotel owned by Maseno University have come out to expose the institution’s Vice-Chancellor Prof Julius O. Nyabundi’s for failing to honour contracts and blatantly delaying payments.
Through a message forwarded to our newsdesk, the workers claim that apart from their unpaid salaries, Prof Nyabundi is also yet to remit dues owed to multiple suppliers based within the county.
According to the insiders who anonymously reached out to us, the latest moves by the morally degraded VC are understood to be part of his ongoing meticulous plan to bring down the establishment so he can privately acquire it from the university.
“Good Morning Nyakundi, I would you kindly address an issue in Maseno University which owns Kisumu Hotel.
The VC is delaying payment of workers especially suppliers and there is a rumour he is planning to collapse the company so that he can buy it cheaply.
Some suppliers haven’t been paid since early last year.
I can certain that suppliers are not paid totally the hotel is doing fine but it’s the culture of the VC wherever he goes,” our source disclosed.
The Kisumu hotel is a project of Maseno University and is used as a training laboratory for the University’s hospitality students.
Located within Kisumu CBD along the Jomo Kenyatta Highway and just 5 minutes from the Kisumu International Airport, the hotel is known to fetch a handsome pay for the campus since it is strategically close to institutions such as banks, shopping malls and medical facilities.
Prof. Nyabundi is the immediate former Principal of Muranga University College and a former Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (A&F) at Maseno University.
He had previously served as the Managing Director, Chemelil Sugar Company.
