Hi Nyakundi,
I would like to expose the rot that happening at EASTAFRICA PORTLAND CEMENT (EAPCC).
Firstly, in February 2012, all the employees of EAPCC went on strike demanding the removal of the MD Kephar Tande and Chairman Mr. Mark Karbolo because of graft that was being perpetuated by them, the then Minister and current Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi fired them (he bosses) but the corrupt judiciary through Judge Warsame reinstated them.
Secondly, Kung’u Gatabaki was appointed to the board, the then MD Kephar Tande compromised him by buying a house for him (Gatabaki]. Up to now he’s still a board member.
Thirdly, in 2015 East African Portland Cement embarked on an upgrade program and a Grate Cooler Retro fit machine costing Ksh800million was procured and delivered from Europe. By mid-2016 the Ksh800million machine was 75% stolen from the yard by senior management team in collusion with Civicon contractor who were using the yard. An European engineer from the selling company came to audit the parts so as to prepare for installation, met the situation and he was furious that he left the next day back to Europe.
Fourthly, the Board that looted EAST AFRICAN PORTLAND CEMENT are still in office except the Chairman.
Fifthly, Kungu Gatabaki has been coming to factory and order the cashier for the available cash every 1-2 weeks (Maasai Mara University style).
The question is why does he pick cash? Is it avoiding taxation? This is corruption, because he claims it their Board allowances.
Employees have suffered a lot as their claims are pending for more than 8 months and whenever they ask, they’re told the available cash has been picked by Mr. Gatabaki.
There’s a lot of corruption happening in EAST AFRICAN PORTLAND CEMENT and we ask the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) why there has never been any investigation nor prosecutions so far.
