Mattress maker Bobmill Industries Limited is accused of selling fake High Density mattresses.
The products which supposedly passes through Kenya Bureau of Standards (KeBS) has been a cause of a lot of back problems facing Kenyans that use it.
“Bobmill industries is producing a brand called mzito highdensity MATTRESS which is not high density, it has brought alot of problems to kenyan citizen with back problem and severe body pain and they are conning customers for selling fake mattress people are being paying for highdensity and being given lightduty we want the goverment to take a look at this issue. #fakeProduct,” a Facebooker by the name Victoria Atieno Atieno wrote.
Kenyans pay through the nose for the mattresses but according to documents in out possession, KeBS doesn’t conduct quality checks on Bobmill anymore.
This leaves Kenyans with a lot of back problems.
For a company that imported cars with radioactive substances from Japan, it’s little wonder that KeBS is failing in this too.
Bobmill marketing department has infiltrated Facebook groups with posts of its High-Density mattresses in order to hoodwink clients, however, its past glory is gone.
There are many more competitors in the market and as such, Bobmill rides on its past successes to push an untested, low-quality product.
In better-managed countries, such companies would be shut down.
But in Kenya, where Indians rule with impunity, it appears nothing will happen. Most likely, KeBS will take bribes to kill any negative publicity on this long–existing firm.
