Bolt Kenya formerly Taxify is probably going under as per the events that have been secretly whispered to the editor of this site.
According to sources, the company has been secretly moving out their furniture secretly from Azuru Towers raising suspicion as to what that may be going on.
In March 2019, Taxify rebranded to “Bolt” in what they described as a move made in preparation for “its next stage of growth”.
Just recently, the company ventured into the electronic scooter business getting rid of the word “Taxi” was believed to be a decision meant to show consumers that the company would be providing multiple transportation options beyond private cars.
According to co-founder Markus Villig, the rebrand from Taxify to Bolt was serving a few purposes. The new name “bolt” implies speed, as well as electricity.
“We are bullish that the future is fully electric and so we wanted a name that moved us away from the combustion engine,” said Mr. Villig.
The app, however, has been marred by scandals and controversies especially in Africa where its drivers have been associated with all sorts of ill and to some extent criminal behaviour.
More updates on this story to follow as we demand an update from the company especially for Kenyans with credit cards on the app.
