Hello Nyakundi. Please highlight this and keep me unanimous. Thank you for the great work you’ve been doing on exposing cartels.
I read your article about Jumia delivery agents and I’d like to bring your attention to another issue.
Almost 2 weeks ago, Jumia Kenya spiked their delivery fee by more than 100% for non-Nairobi areas.
I’m a big supplier in Bomet and Kericho and I usually order most of my stuff from them.
Before that the shipping fee could range between 600 and 1200 depending on the item I was ordering which made complete sense but right now the shipping is at least 2200 even for pick up stations and at least 3000 for home delivery. This price is very ridiculous and it is affecting our business.
I have tried reaching the customer care team and they are saying it’s okay.
Even small items of less than 1000 attract the same expensive shipping fee and I can’t help feel this is a fraud that should be unearthed. I have attached photos to prove the same . The first is a 400 bob HDMI cable having a shipping fee of 2000. The remaining two are comparisons of before and after.
I ordered a laptop before and its delivery fee was 1200 to Kericho. Right now the delivery is 3010 ksh,1800 bob more.
