Something tragic is about to happen in our institution. The Kenya Prison Department is about to rape her junior staff.
The department has a very huge number of staff about 30,000. Of these, a good number of them have acquired different education levels in different fields while in service using individual sponsorship and others were enlisted with some level of education.
We currently have more than 1000 staff with degree and master’s level in different fields. Most of these staff are still in lower ranks when they are actually supposed to be promoted to the rank of Inspector and above. Without considering these already in service with skills and educational qualifications, KENYA PRISON IS RECRUITING NEW MEMBERS WITH SAME EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS BUT LESS SKILLS TO HIGHER RANKS.
This is motivated by personal interests of high ranking officers in the department. They know if they promote current available officers, they’ll benefit less financially compared with when they recruit and demand huge amounts of money.
