Even as the country awaits to usher in a new woman Chief Justice, the State, through the Nairobi Metropolitan Services, has shown another clear sign that we are nowhere near a victory in the long-fought battle against the non-compliance with court orders in Kenya.
In a video clip currently circulating on social media, an angry Kenyan watched on as an NMS bulldozer demolished the wall of her property located within Peony Estate in Lavington, Nairobi.
According to Sarah Oyungu of Twitter, the so-called agents showed up on Friday night with what she claims was an unstamped order.
“This is everything that’s wrong Kenya. Agents of NMS Kenya breaking down the wall of our property despite a court ruling in our favour. If they are doing the right thing, why come at night, on a holiday, with an unstamped order?” she wrote on her page.
Attached to the post was a video that showed a government SANY dozer roaming around the scene moments before it brought down the wall as well as photos of the event’s aftermath.

Over the last years, the disobedience of court orders has been rampant in Kenya, signalling a trend that puts the rule of the law and the dignity of courts under threat.
In most cases, senior public officials top on the list of people disregarding court orders at will.
