Disgruntled staff at KK Security are protesting intolerable working conditions characterized by rampant mistreatment and underpayment.
They strongly criticize the company’s management for deliberately promoting an exploitative culture that narrowly borders outright slavery.
“Hi, Cyprian. I am a controller at KK security, a GardaWorld company, and the treatment being given to us by management is unbearable. We work on a 12-hour, shift basis, and we are expected to work for 48 hours per week as agreed in our contracts.
This means that we should be working for 16 days per month, giving a total of 192 hours a month. But instead, a new duty roster was implemented two months ago that makes us work for 17 days a month, which gives a total extra 12 hours per month,” a source who sought anonymity told us on Friday, October 21.
To make matters worse, the security firm does not pay or compensate its workers during public holidays.
They report to work like any other day.
“Holidays are not treated as normal working days while on annual leave, so why treat them as normal working days while on duty? We held several meetings with management to address the issue, but instead, we were given contracts to sign that disputed any past or future overtime claims,” the source adds, attaching the documents shown below.
