Members of the press working at state-owned broadcaster Radio France Internationale (usually referred to as RFI) were on Tuesday treated to a shocking scene when a staffer fainted inside their studios in Nairobi, Kenya.
The exhausted male journalist that hails from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is said to have fallen unconscious as a result of sudden high blood pressure occasioned by a toxic working environment.
Some of his colleagues who anonymously spoke to cnyakundi.com revealed that this has been the same case with many other employees working under the RFI Swahili Department headed by French national Mr Robert Minangoy.
Mr Minangoy is described as a sadistic foreigner who enjoys mistreating anyone that refuses to comply with his evil schemes.
Although some puppets within the organization, are always ready to kiss his ass, a large section of RFI Swahili reporters have stood their ground declined to bow down to the nepotist.
Before joining the East African branch of RFI, Mr Minangoy was suspended from his duties in Ivory Coast back in 1992 for leaking information to insurgents.
He later moved to Nigeria, Tanzania, and then Kenya which has become the latest hub of his endless evils.
Prior to the fainting incident, RFI Swahili staff and freelances had called for a courtesy meeting with the FMM Afrika Mashariki Human Resource Manager, Mr Arnold Karanja where they raised various burning issues that included;
1. Health Insurance
The staff raised their concern, to Mr Karanja on why the APA Medical cover was not covering, optical challenges, dental challenges, maternity among other illnesses that the staff felt are of great importance.
2. Working during holidays
Questions were raised on why the head of the service was not honouring his contract and the Kenyan laws by paying those who had worked during official holidays.
3. Salaries
The staff requested the review of our salaries to meet the hard economic times.
4. Freelancers and their contracts
Freelancers indicated that they are unhappy with the terms of the contracts accorded to them.
They further requested the review of their payment considering that they don’t work every time, have no benefits like Medical cover and NSSF.
